In order to setup the Optomed Aurora for use with the glaucoma algorithm follow this guide.

Why use an alternate flash setting?

The RetinaLyze Glaucoma algorithm relies on the colours in the fundus photo to detect damage to the optic disc, which indicates signs of glaucoma.

In a few cases, the camera needs to be calibrated to allow the full spectrum of colours to be present in the fundus photo. This can be achieved quickly on the Optomed Aurora by decreasing the flash using the optoroller/knob on the fundus camera. The RetinaLyze web application will give you a warning, when you need to use the mode:

"The image is too saturated to perform the analysis, please capture a new photo with a lower flash setting."

How to use the alternate flash setting

1. Enter the menu by pressing Optoroller/main knob. Then turn the optoroller to go to the Illumination level setting (indicated by a sun). Press the Optoroller again to enter the Illumination level menu and rotate the Optoroller reach Illumination level 2.

The optimal flash setting varies based on the patient's pupil size. Please try Illumination level 3, if the image is too dark/you are unable to capture images with Illumination level 2.
