In order to setup the Optomed Smartscope Pro for use with the glaucoma algorithm follow this guide.

Why use an alternate flash setting?

The RetinaLyze Glaucoma algorithm relies on the colours in the fundus photo to detect damage to the optic disc, which indicates signs of glaucoma.

In a few cases, the camera needs to be calibrated to allow the full spectrum of colours to be present in the fundus photo. This can be achieved quickly on the Optomed Smartscope Pro by decreasing the flash using the left and right arrow keys on the fundus camera. The RetinaLyze web application will give you a warning, when you need to use the mode:

"The image is too saturated to perform the analysis, please capture a new photo with a lower flash setting."

How to use the alternate flash setting

1. Press the left arrow key on the fundus camera until Brightness level 2 is reached.

The optimal flash setting varies based on the patient's pupil size. Please try Brightness level 3, if the image is too dark/you are unable to capture images with Brightness level 2.

1. Capture the image

1. Remember to switch back to Brightness level 5, when you have captured the image for the RetinaLyze Glaucoma algorithm.

This is accomplished by pressing right arrow key on the fundus camera until intensity level 5 is reached.
